Our health is the most important thing we have. But many of us take it for granted and often do things that we live to regret. One thing we do is alter our health by self-medicating.
Cholesterol Information
The main source for informing people is the internet. This is a good thing, until someone gets cholesterol information and decides to take cholesterol-lowering pills instead of checking with a doctor first.
Finding cholesterol information is easy, but understanding cholesterol and knowing your own cholesterol level are what will determine if you need to take any action.
Cholesterol is an important part of your body. We cannot function withou it. In fact, while some of it is brought in through the food we eat, our own liver produces most of the cholesterol. When we have high levels of cholesterol, our body may be in danger when performing its normal activities. It is necessary to keep the levels of cholesterol under control in order to avoid fatal diseases.
It is also important to know that weight has nothing to do with
the cholesterol levels. One can be an athlete in great shape and still be faced with high levels of cholesterol.
More Cholesterol Information
Cholesterol levels can be lowered and maintained, provided you follow your doctors advice and take the drugs as prescribed. Other ways to avoid increasing your cholesterol levels are:
Eat poultry moderately poultry can contain high cholesterol.
Avoid eating egg yolks you can eat egg whites and keep the cholesterol low.
Have a glass of red wine a day.
Try to eat garlic whenever possible.
Eat shellfish moderately as they too have high levels of cholesterol.
Cholesterol information can be very informative as well as educational, but dont judge your own cholesterol level from what you read. Let your doctor perform the required tests to determine if it is necessary for you to undergo treatment or not. Cholesterol is something you need to watch, as your levels can change very quickly. Keep a close watch every time you have a check up.
